Sebastian Zuber

After finishing his Bachelor studies in law, Sebastian studied contemporary dance and got a degree at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. He took part in Doris Uhlich’s internationally successful production more than naked and was also engaged at the Zürich Opera House in Christoph Mathaler’s production Il Viaggio a Reims and Orphee et Euridice, Sebastian Baumgarten’s Hamletmachine and Belshazzar and Herbert Fritsch’s Der Freischütz. He is a founding member of Yugsamas Movement Collektive, with which he created Let the Body Speak and Collage Me. Since 2016 he dances with the Johannes Wieland Company and has performed in Mariannengraben, Rite of Spring, You Will Never Be My Number One Fan, Stück Ohne Titel, Ares, Dragonfly and You Will Be Removed. He danced in Tom Weinberger’s Segments on Notes and Helder Seabra’s Röntgen. He choreographed Professional Failure, Lowball, Accalia, Sit on it and spin!, Have we gone too far? and Industrial Seagrass. In 2019 he is choreographing for the theater piece Aggro Alan by Alexander Nerlich at Staatstheater Mainz. As part of a series called Quercimovers, he has launched exclusive workshops in Corsica. Class Description
Focus is put on collective work as well as on individual process and confrontation with one’s
own strengths and weaknesses. A mix of choreography and improvisation with playful elements
help you to go beyond your usual limits. gather all that you got! it’s what you already possess- it’s that which hides inside of you and what we will push to the surface. we will take all possible influences from around and inside of us, isolate them, sharpen them and merge them in order to create a versatile, musical, humorous, hot piece of dance. i show you a way to discover, accept, develop and dance your taste to its fullest. we practice this fusion, isolated and together in a group, by constantly performing, moving, performing moving, moving, performing. i believe in working as a team to create and to become better in what we do. i don’t believe in judgement and being destructive to yourself or to each other. i believe in enjoyment and hard work, which in
the end is not hard because you enjoy it! i believe in constructive criticism and not fake bullshitting just in order to please. i believe in doing what we do 100%! looking forward to burning that floor with you!

Research Project * deadline passed
Working with 3 Artists. Sebastian will be working on developing ideas for upcoming projects, taking this opportunity to get to know new artists based in Munich. This research will focus on the non-verbal instant composition of a group, supporting and complementing each other. Creating Set material and working on improvised material. The Individual musicality will play a big part in it. It would be good if the participants of the research would take the class in the morning.
