In 2017, she assumed the role of Associate Director of the internationally-renowned festival Springboard Danse Montreal. With her colleagues Roxane Duchesne-Roy and Susan Paulson, Merryn dreamed up Le Broke Lab, a series of micro-laboratories that emphasize uncensored and pressure-free research. The trio has been successfully running the collective since 2011.
CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUE CLASS Merryn’s class is designed for contemporary dancers, offering a fresh approach to technique. She explores the use of the classical technique in a contemporary dance approach, incorporating the vertical in an upside-down world. She challenges the dancers’ use of the whole body, awakening awareness of the back body, of the space around their limbs and of the other bodies around them. The class is supported by a varied soundtrack to bring attention to the important marriage between movement and music.
