short bio:
Roberta Pisu trained at the Académie de Danse Classique “Princesse Grace” in Monte Carlo and the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome. In Rome, she worked as a freelancer and, in 2008, joined La Compagnia under the direction of Cristiana Morganti, Adriana Boriello, Ismael Ivo and the supervision of Pina Bausch. She later freelanced in Canada for three years before joining Munich’s Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz as a soloist, where she performed from 2012 to 2023 under the direction of Karl Alfred Schreiner. During her time at the theater, she collaborated with renowned choreographers, took part in all major productions, and created her own choreographic works from 2016 to 2023.
In 2020, Roberta co-founded arcis_collective with the Arcis Saxophon Quartett, merging chamber music and contemporary dance. The collective’s innovative approach places musicians as active performers on stage alongside dancers. Her work with the collective includes numerous productions presented in theaters, classical music and dance venues, and festivals, as well as pioneering concert formats and site-specific performances.
Alongside her work with the collective, Roberta is an active freelance choreographer in Germany and teaches composition at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich, where she is based.
