class description:
The class I’m proposing is a mix of dance practices which are based on the principles of Dynamic Floorwork technique, some Flying low and improvisation. A guided warm-up and some improvisation tasks will spur practitioners to investigate the articulation and the malleability of their bodies through the use of imagery and sound. Creative tasks will aim at warming up the body joints and muscles achieving a “juicy” and smooth quality of movement. The practice is physically demanding, perfect for those who want to challenge themselves and it will be sustained by funny music tracks which will keep the environment playful and light. In terms of Dynamic floorwork and Flying low, students will be able to explore the principles of the techniques, which give dynamism, functionality and speed a main role and which consist of specific exercises which will allow them to approach the floor smoothly and to investigate the relation between the body and floor. Physical tasks which will involve actions such as press, pull and push in and out of the floor will be proposed and will aim at sustaining the fluidity of the body’s action through space.
People will be spurred to take risks, challenge themselves and measure themselves with their own readiness and confidence.
This is a complete training: for the body, for the mind and for the spirit. It aims at giving the body a very physical impact so as to achieve as many tools as possible to improve body awareness, raise body’s resistance and nourish the physical and mental elasticity of the dancer.
